For the record, im not going to blog about work.

Didnt had the time to update about the final showdown of Anugerah Band or in short, AB. Apparently I've been on afternoon shift. and thus, prone to the lack of updates (I need not explain why:). Anyways, just for reading pleasure, im going to do a little review about it. The programme is actually a reality talent show that aims to showcase the Malay music scene in Singapore, and to identify the island city's most talented music group through showmanship, stage presence, musical prowess and mass appeal. Unlike some other reality shows, the fates of the competing bands will be sealed from a combination of judges’ marks and viewers’ votes that contribute to the final score, based on both music and star quality. Ive been following AB since it started showing a few months back. Week after week the anticipation grew. and I got my favourites at heart, hoping they'll win the title. Two of my favourites- Fatskunks, and Cucu Datok Merah. Both bands managed to go through till the semi finals but sadly, they didnt win the title.

Silk Sutra, Knightwings, Helven, Edmushyta were out on episode 6

So, from 160 bands that turned up for auditions in May, 12 top bands fought their way through the series, showcasing what they got to win the hearts of the people and judges and out of these 12 bands, these are the six bands that remain in the semi-finals.

The winning band of MediaCorp TV12 Suria's Anugerah Band 2008...

_RANCOUR!!!

Wohoooo to RANCOUR again! They got their fans and they won the heart of the judges. They got the image and they got the X-factor too! Well, they atually walk away with a total prize valued at S$250,000! Among this, the biggest nugget is a recording contract with Universal Music Malaysia, in collaboration with Rumpun Records and EZS Music Production. Not only that. They will also receive a four-year artiste management contract with MediaCorp TV12's Artiste Management Unit, a trophy and a cash prize of S$20,000. Wow! Wow! Wow!

So, I guess someone (in particular) will be anticipating their music production in time to come eyh? haha! And to the rest of the bands too, im pretty sure they'll contribute in their own ways to boost up Singapore's music industry in many years to come. Kudos to all the bands! :D

Yan was superr ecstatic yesterday that he texted me on my mobile(this is pretty rare.) His band got into the finals for Hook`d, an event organized by Singapore Polytechnic! The finals will be held at Sentosa tmrow. Main highlight of the event, West Grand Boulevard will be performing and they are one of the judges!!! I still remember Khai was the one that introduced this band to me back then, and I got hooked instantly after hearing the song Flights of Fancy :D
Anyway Yan's band will be playing Songs by Paramore and Fall Out Boy. I really want to be physically there to support them, but I have other important commitments (I'll talk about this in a short while). Meanwhile, all the best yaw brother! Rock on and jam it all the way!

OK. *snap snap* Now, speaking of competitions, bands dot dot dot...
Tmrow will be the very last rehersal for OBOGWS before National Band Competition. yeps! LAST REHERSAL before the actual competition on Sunday!!! and im equally excited and nervous and scared. multitudinous emotions. tsk! I'm not weird, I think it's normal. hehs :)

All the best to Temasek Polytechnic Band for their competition tmrow. Especially to Kadri!!! all the best for your solo! :D
